In a past post, I attempted to record the span of time from a dove egg hatching to fledgling stage. Disaster struck twice, and the eggs were stolen immediately. I moved Delilahs favorite nesting spot to a more secluded and protected area and before long, she was nesting again. She was zealous in her attempt this time, rarely leaving the nest unattended, trading off duties with the male dove. Not wanting to jinx it, I didn't take pictures. Over time, Delilah became comfortable with my comings and goings and actually let me get within 2 feet to take this picture. The other one is of the babies just two days after the first picture when she left them alone.

Thank you all for commenting. I so enjoy watching these little birds. I went out this afternoon and both babies were perched on my chaise lounge. I'm sure they're going to ruin the cushion, but I don't have the heart to disturb them.

Thank you dear Mirsini, you are so very sweet! This morning the babies have flown away already, amazing how quickly they do that. Thank goodness our babies don't grow that fast!

Im so happy to see the new babies :)
Oh she did it Judy! Are they sweet or what.. She must feel very comfortable with you near.. What a joy it must be to watch.. I thought I had a dove nesting this year but sadly, no.. She kept coming and going but no nest.. sigh.. Maybe one day.
Enjoy your evening.. Hope all is well with you and hubby.
Take care dear friend.

How wonderful! So excited you were able to help this mother dove! I adore doves!
Love the pictures,

Thanks Kathy, it was enjoyable but so quick.

Hi Judy,
Oh lucky you! I love it when doves visit the garden! I have never seen babies, they are amazing!
Hugs,
Bella
Bella, they aren't babies very long at all. From hatching to leaving the nest when they are three quarters grown is not even three weeks. I used to wonder why I never saw baby doves, now I know.
And, the mother is nesting again already!
