Something different for me..

I think the day may have come that I've been dreading for quite some time.  I'm having such a difficult time with the Rheumatoid Arthritis that has plagued me for more than 20 yrs, that my doll making has almost come to a standstill.  It came on fairly suddenly and isn't subsiding like in the past.  My fingers and hands have become so painful that I've been unable to sculpt successfully. According to my Rheumatologist I'm already on the maximum dosage of the medication I can safely take. It's worked for over 20 yrs, for that I am thankful. I'm hoping that resting a while, I will be able to resume sculpting for a little longer.  In the mean time, my love of treasure hunting is seeing me through and giving me something less painful to do, and may in the long run give me an alternative to sculpting.  I hope it's someting that I can do more part time and in addition to my sculpting than instead of. I'm slowly listing some of my vintage treasures in my Etsy shop.  Even that is slow going.  Wish me luck and keep me in your thoughts please.
Thank you all for all of your inspiration and kindness.

you are in my thoughts. i've read that green tea may help ease arthritis inflammation. i have some pain in my hands and arms and research natural remedies. green tea is also good for a slew of other things, and some even say it helps you live longer.=)

Judy...I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. I have RA myself so I
understand. I hope that this is just a flare up and it will subside soon. I adore your work and so hope that you will be able to continue. Very interested in hearing about the treasure hunting though ^_^

Hugs,
Regi

Dear Judy, I will be praying for you, as I know many others will too. You are so talented, And an inspiration to so many. Now, I KNOW this will sound like the craziest thing you have ever ever heard... but my father swore by this. He had nerve damage in his shoulder from an old injury, and was in pain quite often, even after surgery, the pain still remained, and his movement was limited in his shoulder and arm, he sprayed common WD-40 on his shoulder, and my mom rubbed it into his skin... and swore it helped greatly! I know, sounds completely crazy, and doesn't smell good, but try it on your hands, and see if there is any improvements..it can't hurt! xoxox Christel

Thank you Regina, I will keep you in my thoughts too! I hope you are doing well dear. As for my treasure hunting, I went on a huge one this morning...thank God I can walk with not much trouble. I actually found a couple of REAL treasures and am torn as to whether to keep them or sell them, which is the whole purpose of my new venture. I wil post pictures of both of them soon.
Bless you and may you have more good days than not.
Hugs,
Judy

Thank you Penny, I appreciate your prayers. I've been setting my alarm for 4 am just to take pain medication here lately, and it helps me get my day started.
I'm not mentally ready to quit yet.
Hugs,
Judy

Thank you Marisa,I'm sorry you are afflicted too, and I will keep you in my prayers too dear. I'm finding that a lot of people have RA. Its a different kind of arthritis, and hard for some to understand. One day I feel fine, and the next I can barely move, you know what I'm talking about.
I look fairly healthy, except for my hands that are getting really deformed and ugly. Ugly I can take, its not being able to use them that gets me down.

Hugs,
Judy

Coming from a Family that seems to be Afflicted with RA I can really sympathize. I hope that resting them a bit helps you as I Love your creations. In the mean time..You have AWESOME treasures in your shop...I am drooling over those pink washcloths--But I need them in a Brown , Tan or Green....Dang!!
Hugz to you!!

Hi Lori, those pink washcloths are sweet aren't they? If they were green, I would keep them for myself, well, maybe share with you.
I got tentative good news from my doctor. He seems to think a good portion of my pain is from carpal tunnel........I didn't even think it could possibly be that, but I was thrilled to hear him say it could be. I had carpal tunnel surgery on my right hand 25 yrs ago and had forgotten all about it. I'm waiting for an appt with a neurologist to confirm his diagnosis. Then, a couple of surgeries and I'm good to go for a while at least. Wish me luck on having carpal tunnel!
